PNCA week of programmes for Independence Day

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) has arranged a variety of cultural programmes to be held till August 20 in connection with the Independence Day celebrations.

A movie titled “Khaak Aur Khoon”, produced by National Film Development Corporation, was screened the other day at the PNCA Hall, portraying scenes of Pakistan Freedom Movement, pre-partition events and the national heroes’ struggle.

PNCA Director General Naeem Tahir said holding of weeklong cultural programmes was aimed at making youth aware of the freedom movement heroes’ contributions. “It is an attempt to remind all sections of the society about the value of freedom and sacrifices made by our forefathers,” he said.

National Puppet Theatre presented a puppet show titled “A Tale of Pakistan” based on national songs at the PNCA Hall on Thursday, while the same show would be held today (Friday) at Liaquat Hall. A cultural show was also organised and students from various schools of Rawalpindi and Islamabad presented regional dances and national songs in it.

A drama titled “Roshni Ka Safar” was staged, while a movie titled “Khuda Kay Liye” will be screened on August 17. A youth cultural show will be held tomorrow (Saturday), featuring performances by the students.
